Send a file without AirDrop

Both devices only need a modern browser and an internet connection.

  1. 01

Open SendIt on the sending device

Choose that you have files to send. SendIt creates a short-lived session for the transfer.

  2. 02

    Pair the receiving device

Scan the QR code or enter the four-digit session PIN. PIN pairing also asks both devices to compare one eight-digit security number.

  3. 03

    Choose and send the file

The file and its name are encrypted in the sender's browser before the encrypted transfer reaches the relay.

02 / Guide

When a browser-based alternative helps

AirDrop is excellent inside the Apple ecosystem, but it is not designed for an iPhone sending to a Windows laptop or an Android phone sending to a Mac. SendIt fills that cross-platform gap without asking either person to install the same native application.

It is especially useful for one-off transfers: moving a photo to a work computer, sending a PDF to a tablet, or copying a link between devices that do not share an account.

03 / Guide

What happens to the file

SendIt encrypts live transfer content, filenames, MIME types, messages, and clipboard content in the browser. The relay routes ciphertext and does not receive the browser-held decryption key.

Live transfers pass through relay memory. Credit-based large transfers use temporary Cloudflare R2 storage, but the stored object remains encrypted and expires with the transfer.

Does SendIt use Bluetooth?

No. The devices pair through a browser session, so Bluetooth discovery and Bluetooth device compatibility are not required.

Does the relay receive my decryption key?

No. The key material is established in the browsers and kept in browser memory. The relay routes encrypted content.
